|With Riders from 7 states, and an amazing turnout....|
I'm excited to say our 3rd annual
St Jude/Cody heard race was a huge success!
Year one was 5,000
Year two was 10,000
This year was even bigger,
Our great group of riders and families came together and raised a total donation of 13,300.00 to be donated in Honor of Cody Heard,
That's over 28,000 in 3 years!!
We learned a lot this year,
I personally tried a couple things that worked and a couple things that didn't work,
I learned from this year,
next year I will capitalize on that knowledge,
I personally want to thank everyone that came out, everyone that rally's around any fundraiser we do, it means a lot to me,
Attached is a letter from Kelly Rozzell Heard, her son Cody is the reason We put this together,
They are the reason I know a little about what St. Jude does,
We just wanted to say "thank you" again for everything that everyone did to make the 3rd Annual Cody Heard Race such a huge success! You had to fight Mother Nature the week before and we all know that she is POWERFUL! Please share on the motocross page that our family is so overwhelmed with the huge turnout this year!! Some people don't realize that St Jude pays for everything! They provide gas money, lodging, food vouchers and they only take what insurance pays! They are amazing! Just think how this weekend may help another child with cancer!! It was all made possible by everyone who attended wether they watched, ride or worked. We have made many new friends on this journey. Life is impossible without friends!!
THANK YOU EVERYONE!!
|This week's rider of the week is Brian Smith. Brian is 12 years old from Dalton, Georgia. He is in the 6th grade at Valley Point Middle School. Brian had a very impressive ride this past Sunday at Pro Edge Calhoun taking the win in 85 9-13 class. He is also winning the points in the series. Brian began riding when he was 3 years old with training wheels and began racing at the age of 4 with the influence of his Poppa and 2 uncles who raced also. On July 13, 2013 Brian took a bad crash at Muddy Creek MX leaving him with a broken left femur and crushing all the bones in his left wrist both requiring surgery to place rods and pins. Coming back from a crash such as that was tough. Finally 3 months after his release he began to get some seat time again about 30 minutes to an hour on an empty track. It didn't come till late in the year that he took his first gate drop again at Pro Edge Calhoun winning the 85D class that night. Brian continues to get wiser and faster each weekend. When he grows up he wants to be a pro rider! GO #99! Some of his favorite supercross and local riders are Travis Pastrana, "Cowboy" Kenny Bartram, Jase Owens and Robby Horton just to name a few. Brian would like to thank his sponsors SYD, Walter Madden, Leatt, Twin Air, Liquid Image and his number one fan and supporter his Poppa Jim Pewitt. He would also like to thank Darrel Lynn for helping him and all the work he puts in to the track each week allowing him some track time last year to slowly get back on the bike. Congratulations Brian on being our rider of the week, you have a free practice on us! Best of luck to you! Everyone come out and join us March 16th at Pro Edge Chattanooga when Round 3 of our Southern Shootout will continue. God Bless ~~Jaime~~||
